and in retrospect . .
this tells some of the story of the celebrations that have occurred
. . . so far!
Celebration weekend 11 and 12 June.
We are very proud to be named the Prince Philip Centre PHAB Club Leeds.
We have met at the Prince Philip Centre each Friday evening since 1970.

We have been honoured to have received a number of visits from
HRH The. Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, K.G., KT.
He laid the Foundation Stone,
came again to Open the Centre in November 1969;
unfortunately the building was vandalised by fire, but was rebuilt
and on 4th June 1993 he came when the building was rededicated
by The Revd Stephen Oliver Rector of Leeds.
Photograph shows:
HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh sharing a joke with Kathie Wenban, Peter Cain and Danny Blackburn during his visit to PHAB on 4th June 1993.
Kathie, who with her late husband, Harold Epstone, was instrumental in raising the funds during the 1960’s for a Community Centre to be built for young people in the Scott Hall Area of Leeds.
Also in the picture: Peter Cain who was Leader in Charge of PHAB for more than 20 years
and PHAB member Danny Blackburn. Danny is still a PHAB member.
PHAB is proud of its Royal connections

In 2007 Prince Philip Centre PHAB Club was awarded the Duke ofYork’s Community Initiative for its work of bringing together people with and without disabilities.
The picture shows PHAB President Ann Hart receiving the Award from HRH. Duke of York.
Councillor Bernard Atha OBE, Chairman of the Celebration Day
for the Rededication of Prince Philip Centre – 4th June 1993 gave an address to mark the occasion.
