Holidays

A group of PHAB members

The summer residentials started this year in May with the youth group  weekend at Leeds City Council’s Herd Farm Activity Centre, Eccup.

In July the senior group had a relaxing break at Butlins Skegness.

A joint Youth Group residential was arranged in August, under the joint leadership of Paul, Mat and John, staying in PHAB’s favourite venue:  Welburn Hall School, Kirbymoorside.  PHAB has enjoyed Welburn for many years.  It is fully equipped for disabled people; staff from the school come in to prepare meals to sustain healthy appetites; and all the members enjoy the opportunity to relax or play sport in the wonderful school grounds which of course are completely wheelchair friendly.

The PHAB volunteer drivers were kept busy taking the group to the varied programme events....a day at the seaside, ten pin bowling in York...the Theme Park at Flamingoland, visits to the Rose & Crown Pub in the village..and a day at Beverley Race..and some shopping....despite quite a lot of rain the faces on the PHAB members smiled all week.

And not to be forgotten – the famous PHAB playscheme/chillout week in August (which PHAB arranged for the first time in 1971!) was enjoyed by old and new PHAB members....this year we changed our venue and were made very welcome at John Jamieson SILC school.

To make any of this possible we require help with our FUND RAISING
– the cost of running the PHAB outings and holidays is about £30,000 a year.
